At the Central Manchester Beer festival in 2017, profits of every programme sale as well as charitable donations went towards our chosen charity – Papyrus. Papyrus recently contacted us to give thanks:
Thank you for your kind gift of £292.37 raised from the Central Manchester CAMRA Beer Festival (29/06/2017 – 02/07/3027). Your generous support allows us to keep services like HOPELineUK running. This national service receives hundreds of calls, texts and emails each month from young people struggling to cope, and those worried about them. Their reasons for getting in touch vary, but they all have one thing in common – a need for advice and support to cope when times get tough.
In addition, we are really thankful that Central Manchester CAMRA offered PAPYRUS a stall for the duration of the beer festival to help promote our charity’s services and increase awareness of young suicide with the beer festival goers. During the event, PAPYRUS staff and volunteers engaged with over 200 people – many offering kind donations, others wanting to know a bit more about PAPYRUS and some who shared how they’d been touched by suicide. The event also provided invaluable experience for PAPYRUS staff and volunteers in engaging with public.
